TYC - WHO WE ARE:

THE TELLURIDE YOGA CENTER-

The Telluride Yoga Center was established in 1999.

A sanctuary for spiritual practices, we offer a wide variety of classes which arise organically within our community. The compelling range of styles on our schedule include Prana Flow Vinyasa, Ashtanga Vinyasa, Kundalini, Alignment based yoga, Jivamukti, Yoga for Stiff Bodies, Pilates, Qi Gong, Gong Sound Therapy, Restorative, AromaYIN yoga, Slow Flow yoga, Intuitive Guided Meditation, as well as silent meditation. We also offer half price "community" vinyasa classes.

TYC has been at the heart of the yoga community in Telluride for almost 20 years and has always been a locally grown studio. We have hosted the Telluride Yoga Festival and many amazing and well-known teachers for in-depth workshops over the years such as Tim Miller, Annie Pace, Peter Sterios, Nancy Stechert, Balarama Chandra Das, Maria Garré, Gina Caputo and Francisco Kaiut to name a few. We also love to host traveling DJ's and musicians for live music classes as well as hosting a quarterly donation based event called Project: OM Unity where we invite a collaboration of three teachers per event to come and share some special aspect of yogic lifestyle. Anything that inspires growth, community, awareness and creativity. This can range from kirtan to vision board creations, slam poetry, yoga philosophy, ayurveda, astrology and much more! Donations from these events are raised to support a cause whether it is a local charity or emergency aid such as hurricane Harvey. We also offer the Global Mala Project inspired by Shiva Rea. The practice consists of 108 sacred movement meditations (namaskars) or japa mantra meditations during Solstices and Equinoxes to mark the "sandhyas" or sacred juncture/shift in season.

Our teachers are authentic, compassionate and highly skilled. More than half of our teachers are 500 hr RYT certified but we also give newer teachers (200hr RYT required) the opportunity to develop, giving them a beautiful and inspiring space to find their voice. Our teachers support each other with an open door policy to share each other's classes.

TYC is owned and operated as a collaboration between Albert Roer, Kristin McHarg and Julia Johnston. Albert is co-owner of the Telluride Yoga Festival and TYC, Kristin McHarg is co-owner and manager of TYC, as well as a Telluride native. Julia Johnston, assistant manager, is somewhat new to Telluride and a lighthouse of love. The three are a complimentary team that run the shala with the mantra "Breathe LOVE" as their guiding force. All are welcome at the Telluride Yoga Center. Inclusivity is our goal and a non-competitive, safe environment to unfold the lotus of the heart is our desire.

Join us this October 17th-21st for a 30 hour AromaYIN™ Yoga Teacher Training. Learn the science of aromatherapy in conjunction with the chakra system through yin and restorative yoga postures. This training will expand the knowledge base for yoga teachers as well as offer a new modality for massage therapists, reiki practitioners and chiropractors. This training is open to all. For more information visit us at tellurideyoga.com or call (970) 729-1673. We are located at 201 West Colorado Ave. Suite 200, Telluride, Colorado.
