The Origins and Evolution of the Namaskar with visiting teacher Lily Russo
A workshop to deepen your understanding, alignment, and appreciation of the sun salutation.
Almost everyone who has some experience in yoga is familiar with Surya Namaskar, the Sun Salutation. But with many variations and little context provided in most classes, it can be confusing to know where it came from, what are the benefits, and what is the best way for each student to practice it? A combination of lecture and practice, this workshop will teach the origins of the Namaskar as a humble bow of prostration in between rounds of the Gayatri mantra honoring the sun, and progress to teach several variations of the modern Sun Salutation. A tutorial on the various ways to transition in between rounds will assist students in learning the most effective, aligned, and safe way to chatturanga, and other transition vinyasas. Photographic handouts will be given to help students continue practicing these beneficial, energy creating sequences at home.
Lily Russo, E-RYT 500, has been practicing yoga most of her life. Her initial practice of asana lead her to study all the other facets including pranayama, meditation, and Ayurveda, as well as other influential disciplines, primarily Buddhism and the Tao. She believes that practices which lead us to recognize our relations to our higher selves and to all other beings as well as the natural world create a life of harmony. As a teacher Lily is passionate about sharing these practices with her students, so that they may use them to realize mental calm and clarity, as well as physical strength and grace. She crafts classes and workshops based on the needs of her students, time of day and year, and her intuition around what is energetically calling for attention in the moment. More information at www.lilyrussoyoga.com; the Firewalks and empowerment trainings she leads with her husband at www.thehighpath.com; and about her other passion, mosaic art, at www.lilymosaics.com.

The Inward Journey: An Invitation to Introspection and Involution. Can we withdraw inward and find the reality of life, the truth of yoga? BKS Iyengar found life inside himself, in every cell of his body. His teachings lead us to the divine core inside us away from the outer world of perception. Pose and repose. Work on finding stillness in the practice of asana, in the breath, and in the mind.

EARLY BIRDS: Register by November 3rd
Join us for community night at TYC and experience yogic lifestyle!
This month let's gather in the name of warmth, spices and nourishment. Spices are primal medicine! Learn how to make the classical Ayurvedic dish kitchari. This is an easy and delicious one pot meal that is renowned for its ability to "re-set" your digestive system. It is nourishing for body and soul. We will also make our own home-brewed chai tea! Let the kichari cook and the chai simmer while we learn the value of the Gayatri mantra. The Gayatri is the oldest known mantra from the vedas that celebrates the inextinguishable light. We'll learn to use the mala beads to integrate this ancient practice and experience a high vibration meditation. Feel the palpable shift in your own being through this ancient practice connecting us to the highest Self.
Let's make this a potluck! Bring an easy dish and bowl, mug and utensils.
This event is donation based. Donations will be matched by TYC and given to a cause TBD by the group.

Phillippe is an independent artist and street musician from Quebec City, Canada. An avid traveler and busker, he has performed in the streets of Germany and Finland, always
coming back to the picturesque scenery of the St-Lawrence river and the streets of Old Quebec, Canada.

Join us at the Telluride Yoga Center for a public lecture on Kriya Yoga: Kriya Yoga is an ancient method of living and meditation that cultivates body, mind, intellect and awareness of soul using powerful meditative and yoga disciplines. This develops one-pointed mind, which enables us to penetrate the deepest levels of consciousness and to change our lives. Kriya Yoga teaches that any action kri, is done by ya, the indwelling soul. COLORADO CACAO, YOGA & SOUND
Explore the fusion of the ancient practices of Yoga and Shamanism! Join CJ Ananda on a heart expanding journey of Cacao, Yoga & Sound.
Yoga (union with the Divine) and Shamanism (interaction with the spirit world) both are practices traditionally designed to lead us to the direct flow of wisdom and the embodiment of spirit. We shall be working with the elements as shamanic archetypes to create a conscious conversation between our inner Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine. Through this practice we will come into harmonious union aligning ourselves to our true nature.
We begin the class with a cup of Sacred Cacao to connect us to Spirit. Using the essence of cacao to open clear channels between our Mulhadara chakra (the body), the Anahata chakra (the heart) and the sahasrara chakra (Great Spirit); activating an intense and transformational practice. Our experience will be deepened by the constant thread of Sacred Sounds and Icaros (Shamanic songs) performed live by our team.

Winter Solstice Celebration - Wednesday, December 21st 7-8pm
It’s time to turn the soil and plant the seeds!
The darkness of winter solstice is compared to the rich darkness of fertile soil. The waning light and fall season leading up to this point has offered the opportunity to reflect on the past year and digest our experiences and our efforts (reap the harvest).
“The word solstice is derived from the Latin sol (sun) and sistere (to stand still), because at the solstices, the Sun stands still in declination; that is, the seasonal movement of the Sun’s path (as seen from Earth) comes to a stop before reversing direction.”
According to tantric philosophy this “sacred pause” is the essence of origin. This still moment in time represents the ground of being and the birthplace of new life and possibilities. This pause is called a “sandhya” –a juncture of time and space in whichtransition and transformation occurs. The six month period that follows - winter to summer - is referred to as the “uttarayana” cycle and is suffused with the forces of growth and expansion.
We know that energy flows where our attention goes. With this in mind, we will plant seeds of intention, prayers, dreams and visions for the new year to come.
Offering and aligning the flow of breath and life force consciousness to unite individual and divine will.
Please join Kristin Taylor, Babsi Glaznig and Ted Faris for music, 27 chandra namaskars and 108 mantra japa (sacred chants) as we bow to the greater forces of life energy.
This is a donation event. All donations will be given to Angel Baskets. Please bring $10-$20 donation and food for the food bank.
Please stay for the Women’s Circle at 8:30pm led by Madeline Gonzalez and Monica Kelly Warren.
